From visiting @cubotanicgarden Cambridge botanical gardens to look at the collection with Sally, drawing the cacti and pitcher plants, to making the steel lantern structures and then, pierce hire fitting the lights so that Eden and I could apply the paper ready for showtime in the beautiful setting #winterlights #lanterns #cambridgebotaniclights #sculpture

A little walk through part of the exhibition, I’m mainly known for my metalwork and I will never stop exploring and learning from this incredible material, but I’m also a painter and oils are king. The swan has been a powerful symbol in my dreams and in my work. This is based on a journey I went on with deer and swan. When I go on a journey like this one, I often die in some way and am reborn new. It’s an incredible experience and brings many gifts. “As I left the cave deer was walking beside me we stood in the dusk and faced each other we sort of passed through each other and merged it was a very loving feeling , bonding us together. Then I asked if I could put deer into my heart and they agreed I scooped them up and put them in loving them . Then we were running bouncing leaping through the forest it’s dark now and the stars are shining thru the trees we stop at a pool and drink from it, I am in deer and feel the sensation of lapping the cool fresh nourishing water. Then deer tell me to get into The pool as I go under the water fill my lungs and I stop breathing I am dead I gradually dissolve into the water and become still water the last thing is my hair which slowly drifts out in a fan. I am water for some time and then enshrined as a swan, my wings outstretched radiant pure white and powerful, a rainbow arch of aquamarine crystal above me rains down crystals of beautiful healing over me.” #journey #shamanicjourney #swan #crucifiction #crucifyingnature #rebirth #dissolve #breathe

Over the past two years I’ve been interested in the art of tracking. It speaks to the ancestral parts of ourselves tucked somewhere deep within. At first I thought mmm nice patterns in the mud. But as with everything the further I explored the more interesting it became. Oh this is a young fallow deer, walking now it’s bounding, its turned directions why? It stopped etc the story unfolds more and more. Bird prints in the sand, what species, where did it land? Take off? Then in 2022 I was lucky enough to go to Namibia with the old way to stay with the San bushmen in the Kalahari desert they showed us how to track animals and learn more of the story, suddenly I was tracking animals I’d never seen in real life, Kudos, Oryx, mongoose, springbok, Duiker, Roan Antelope and more this place was so abundant compared to where I live and for the first time I truly understood the importance of tracking for these people and our hunter gatherer ancestors, their lives depended on the language of the tracks, at the end of the fresh kudo track we were following was the actual animal that made this print. I came back from Africa and it was winter, the tracks in the snow were not giraffes and antelope they were horses, deer, Nike trainers, pheasant and John deer tractors. These are the tracks of my land where the swallow flys in the summer and then travels to south Africa for winter. #swallows #track #pattern #storiesintheland

What a lovely time making dumplings with @hiddenkeileon Metal Peterborough I learnt some new skills and flavours, met some great people had interesting chats and made new connections, and to top it off stuffed my face with delicious dumplings!!! Metal is awesome, does anyone have an incredible un utilised space that would fit a very brilliant organisation bringing art and culture and connection to the city?

A few sneaky peeks from yesterday, the amazing Jim @tufiarts and Karen came up with brilliant solutions for Karen’s sail piece, I was so happy to start getting pieces up on the walls rather than in the workshop and in my head, I managed a lie in this morning till 6am 🤣there’s been a few 4.30am mornings not because I needed too but because my head was full and sleep was finished, quite amazing how much I can get done in the blue hour. Todays the day we start to hang the two exhibitions , my biggest solo show so far “journeys with Nature” and “the Imaginal field”

I had a fun and busy day yesterday with @syntaxpoetrycollective @montygristo and @lozke making a window in Peterborough central library, Mark spoke to visitors of the library about their favourite books growing up, and what books mean to them, escape , magic , adventure and seeing themselves in the characters of books came through again and again. “A world to escape in” “ the right words carefully chosen can change worlds” were two wonderful quotes and mark wove them into a circular message. What books were meaningful to you ? Did they inspire your life in some way?

Cactus shenanigans, when things aren’t working out, it’s usually because something is not right and needs changing, I’ve got a lot of deadlines looming and kept ploughing on hoping it would work out. Then Sunday morning I got to the point nothing was working, I had a cry I ran away to the woods and came back knowing I had to undo lots of the work, but then the magic started happening again and I am so much happier with how it looks. It reminds me of so many times I’ve painted a portrait and something is off and the further I went the more I knew I had to rework something key and when I did the work it was never as bad as I thought it would be and the end result so worth it. This is a bit of a good tailors jacket lining situation, I want it too look as good inside as outside and I feel so happy to have done it. #smoothlines #sculpture #wip #cactus #metalart

This commission started about one and a half years ago with a visit to the wonderful @rspbframpton to talk wings and waders I had a lovely walk around and saw the ringed plovers, redshanks, avocets and so much more. Then this summer I led a printmaking workshop at an open day and demonstrated plasma cutting. Then I made a design and slightly changed the wing angles before drawing the species such as lapwings, egret, redshank, ringed plovers, heron, etc and incorporated the designs made at the print workshop, set about cutting , cleaning and welding, to complete the sculpture ready for install, my dad Owen bought the spades and on a beautiful rare sunny day we put it in. @transportedart #flywaytrail #waders #marsh #wetland

The moth as part of the flyway trail @transportedart and @wildlifetrusts @lincswildlifetrust #gibraltarpointnationalnaturereserve the brief was to highlight the local moths such as rosy wave, sand dart, starwort, archers dart and dotted fan foot , so I started with a starwort and layers the moth patterns within the wings and started cutting the Corten steel, this is quite thick material so took a bit of cleaning up then me and dad went on a road trip to Skegness to install at the site, such an interesting landscape with a lovely cafe and lots of walks to see the nature reserve. #metalsculpture #moths

I am so totally delighted, excited, happy and buzzing to share that we got funding to run our “Imaginal field” project, there’s going to be a year long program of artist residency’s , workshops , field gatherings, exhibitions and so much more, things kick off in November with an exhibition to introduce the project alongside an exhibition of my work . @peterboroughmuseum november16th-2 feb 2025 . @aceagrams We are proof that if you don’t succeed the first time, take onboard the feedback and try again this was our second try and we had invaluable support from Kirsten Bennett as well as @metalpeterborough @meadowfoxgardens wooohoooooo

Two weeks ago I went on #natureawaken retreat at cae Mabon and had a life changing week. For me the work I was to do was all about finding my voice and bringing my truth to the offering of life. Keeping quiet was a way I tried to keep small. Even unconsciously changing my voice in an attempt to be sweeter and more likeable. I Am Not small and I’m not always sweet, I don’t need you to like me any more it’s more important that I am authentic and wholeheartedly myself, All of a sudden I can speak with a growing confidence from within myself. Ivy taught me resilience and feminine power. The axe taught me true inner power to chop the wood to feed the fire of transformation. Sitting in circle with grief and a group of souls helped me to let go of the limitations and sadness. This past year has been a journey to let the past go and find my song, find my voice and develop my inner resilience and power to bring it. Last night I took part in #councilofallbeings put on by #nlow . My second council in 3 weeks and what an incredible experience they both were, each one unique to the beings that came and the place it happened. I was chosen this time by the spirit of wildness that lives in all beings and even us humans, some of us have forgotten our wildness and the spirit is offering us friendship to ignite the ember of wild that lives inside us all. I was so wild the camera couldn’t capture me!!
